Boosting your Immune System in Challenging Times

As the world seems to be a depressing place with the spectre of social distancing and the rise of anxiety and fear due to Covid 19, I have collected together some of my own top immune boosters. As I am at heart a very practically minded person this immediately made me feel a lot better!

  • Lots of hand washing - and for the length of time it takes you to sing happy birthday twice!

  • Lots of sleep

  • Lots of laughter (time to watch great comedy sketches again!)

  • Reducing stress -  focus on what brings you joy!

  • Moderate exercise 

  • Realising that your own emotions are within your own control (mindfulness apps are useful)

  • Realising that a lot of stuff is not within your control and therefore not worth worrying about

  • Echinacea herbal drops

  • Manuka Honey (ideally taken as a daily teaspoon rather than in tea and not suitable for young kids)

  • Spinach/Kale/Green stuff ideally at every meal

  • Mushrooms

  • Yoghurt

  • Protein rich foods

  • Chocolate (no scientific proof but I'm sure it is!)
